What styles of massage do you do?

I incorporate various techniques into each of my massages. After an initial intake and learning what the client is expecting and/or wanting, I am able to combine techniques specific to each client.

Is the massage going to hurt or will I be sore the next day?

Sometimes you will experience what people call a "good hurt." I will apply firm pressure to break up adhesions or muscle tension but will always check in with you to make sure it is not painful.

Why is it important to drink a lot of water after the massage?

Water helps maintain muscle health. Drinking water after a massage helps to rid the body of toxins that can cause muscle tension and pain.

What is a trigger point?

A trigger point is a tender spot in the muscle that can refer pain, tingling, numbness, burning or itching. An active trigger point causes immediate pain or dysfunction. A latent trigger point is unnoticed until direct pressure is applied.

What causes trigger points?

Trigger points can be caused by stress, excessive chilling, injury, overuse, strain, skeletal asymmetry, arthritic joints and other trigger points.

What happens if I have an injury?

Massage therapy can be beneficial for certain injuries but it can be contraindicated for other injuries. It is important to inform me of all past and present injuries to assure massage therapy is the best treatment for you.
